    I agree that Cross Rhodes' burger is a little underrecognized. I did bring it up a while back in the Burgers, Burgers, Burgers thread, with some agreement at the time, including photo documentation.

    Anyone who is following this thread ought to peruse that one, which is currently eleven "pages" worth of posts.

    Ever notice how reading through some of these threads makes you hungry? Now I want a burger for breakfast.

    Okay, I'll start out by saying I am not much of a carnivore, but I do like an occasional burger. Surprised that no one here has mentioned Goldyburgers in Forest Park. An old fashioned tavern that serves 1/2 pounders that are pretty darn good.

    Worth a try if you are in the area for sure.

    There are plenty of good hamburgers here. Kuma's is phenomenal and just about all of their varieties are good, solid flavor and topping combos that are worth a try.

    On the cheap end, cheeseburgers from Maxwell St. or the Maxwell Depot on 31st are great too for a very cheap and simple snack. Toasted bun, thin patties, melted cheese and caramelized onions. Runs you about two buck and fifty with fries.

    On the topic of the Cross-Rhodes burger: I completely agree that it is a fine rendition, made distinctive by the addition of a slab of tangy feta, if you like, and put right over the top by the lovely, crispy, lemony, greek fries.
    It is worth noting that this burger and fries are related (by marriage, though not commerce) to the same items at The Athenian Room on Webster. In fact, in my experience they are virtually identical.

    I would also add, tangentially, that the A. R. skirt steak may be one of the great bargain steaks in town, sitting atop those same fries but adding it's own tart wine/vinegar marinade to the flavor mix.

    I've never eaten at Cross-Rhodes and the whole time I was reading this thread, I had this vague sensation that I've had the fries described above (but obviously not at Cross-Rhodes). It was the Athenian Room! I really like those fries. Thanks for clearing that up!
