I'm on a hunt for a good Friday fish fry in the NW Burb area. For years & years I would frequent Eddie's Lounge on NW Hwy. Arlington Heights but now it is just a mere memory for me . The place was a family owned and operated institution for years. It was sold and only lasted a couple of years before they closed abruptly a few months ago. I have also tried (a really long time ago) Village Tavern in Long Grove wonder how that place is? My husband & I went to Paprikash in Arlington Heights this past weekend because they advertised a $ 9.95 all you can eat special. I was disappointed with the whole dinner. The tartar sauce and cole slaw had no pizzaz, the batter on the fish was nothing to speak of. Instead of fries, the fish was seved with some sort of potato croquettes-again not memorable. The highlight of the meal was a piping hot fried garlic hungarian bread brought to the table almose immediately after we sat down. Any suggestions would be great!THANKX

Pammy...We live in the NW burbs are big fans of Fritzl's in Lake Zurich. Not only do they have a good fish fry on Friday nights (I believe it's cod), but most anything else we've had there has been good. The servers are friendly and there's a nice atmosphere in both dining rooms. We've lived in this particular area for 6 years and it's become our place to go when we want to go out, but don't want to go too far from home or get too dressed up.

The best we've found (and we've tried a lot) is at Chandlers at the Schaumburg Golf Course. It's $9.95 for all-you-can-eat lake perch, lightly breaded, not greasy. Comes with a nice salad or soup, good choice of sides (they're baked sweet potatoes with maple butter are delicious)!

Pammy...When I looked on their menu, I didn't see it listed because they consider it a Friday special. I really can't remeber what the price is, but I want to say it's $9.95. You can always call and confirm. You get several nice size pieces of fish and can pick two sides. They do take reservations as well. You may not need them, but it's a nice touch.
