Friend is finally coming home from Iraq. He wants to have a large get together with family and friends, maybe 25 people tops at a bar. We don't want to rent a "private room" or buy an open bar - hoping to find a bar large enough to accommodate the crowd in River North/West Town/Bucktown. It'll be on a Friday night too- so crowds may be an issue.

Decent food and decent drinks a must. Pool table a bonus.

First thing that popped into my head was Emmit's on Milwaukee. That's probably large enough to absorb the crowd, right?

    Thanks for any help...

Do you want something more like a dive bar or something a little more upscale?

Does not have to be upscale - in fact, I'd tend toward the divey, provided they have decent food (nothing spectacular) and decent drinks.

Piece could be a nice option as well. I like Bluebird up on Damen myself, just work your way to the back room.

Heavenly Bodies has some decent food and cheap beer after a $10 cover. Oh yea and entertainment as well

Piece has a large "pit" area in the front that hold 25+ I believe. The "pit" is laid out very casual (is free), and they have great food and beer.
