I've had the burgers at Solly's in Milwaukee (listed as Glendale on Playboy's list) and Town Topic in Kansas City. They're both good skinny burgers, but their inclusion in a list of the countries 10 best makes that list suspect in my mind.

I suppose anytime you have a list of this nature, whether for hamburgers, pizzas, or the countries best laundromats, it is a bit ridiculous. But putting these two good-not-great versions on the list removes any legitimacy the list might have otherwise had.

And before anyone gets all bent out of shape, I am commenting strictly on the nature of the list itself. I do not mean to take away from those hamburgers or their establishments that truly belong on a list of this nature.

It's nice to see local scribe and Chicago Magazine dining editor Jeff Ruby with a piece in Playboy.

I don't imagine there's a burger on that list that wouldn't at least be worth trying. They look pretty darned good.

And whoever said that thing about the electric skillet in reference to Solly's was right on the money!

Without even thinking, I tried to follow the link from my desk at work. Needless to say I was blocked. Soon, perhaps to be unemployed. What am I supposed to tell HR: "No, really! I was looking for good burgers!!"
    "What a maroon."
"Strange how potent cheap music is."
