Interested in going to El Primo Canto (5414 W. Devon), and wondering about a good bar somewhere in the vicinity to hit beforehand. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just down the block is Moher, a nice Irish pub.

My knowledge of that area is that that your drinking options are limited. Someone else will know better, but I think that neighborhood used to be dry.

It was. Moher is the first bar in the area since 1947.
I'll let you in on a little secret - go west on Devon, turn right on Milwaukee, left on Albion, and just before you get to Oak Park, there will be a little bar with no sign, no name, and not many customers, although it is a nice little neighborhood joint. It's about 5 minutes away from Al Primo Canto.
If you turn left on Milwaukee, there is a new bar called Jet on the west side of the street. It's usually pretty hoppin', though, so if you're in the mood for a quiet joint it's probably not for you. That's only about 5 minutes away too.

Thanks Pie Lady-I never got around to Primo Canto, but now I am fully prepared with 3 bars-plus, I really like hearing about the hidden gems.
