I don't know if this is the right section to post this in, but I figure it can be moved... Anyway, I discovered a neat little trick. I googled the phrase: "best deal in" site:lthforum.com and it gave me some cool ideas. I decided to collect a bunch of them and put them here for everyone to enjoy.
These are all just copied and pasted quotes from previous LTHForum threads, with links.
Bster: Headed over to
Atlantic last night for the $3 Pub Burger Special - I have come to believe this is the best deal in all Chicagoland in the $5 and under category - it really just is.
Jay: Four of us had dinner at
GLENN'S recently and the food and service was terrific. We arrived before 6 and there was a early bird meal for 10.95 that had a choice of two fish entrees which is the best deal in town.
Ms. Paris:
This has to be the best deal in Chicago, hands down.
G Wiv: The
whole chicken was, in a word, terrific and maybe the best deal in Chicago at $5.50 for one-whole-chicken w/lavosh and toum.
baffler: Are they still serving their
lunch special? 2 dishes + soup for $3.95... best deal in town? Heck yes.
Mike G: Does Brunkow's have fresh mozzarella? I've tried other things of theirs, as you know, but I looked at the various cheese stands today (as much as a 30-minute meter allowed me) to see if anyone had fresh mozzarella and no such luck. Anyway, water buffalo mozzarella is qualitatively different from any cow mozzarella, I think, hence my saying that the
cheapest good bufala must be the best deal in town.
Mike G: . What was a promising, but only about half successful (in retrospect, I may have been slightly kind) Mexican seafood restaurant four months ago seems to me to be one of the best modest-priced options in town-- and easily the
best deal in higher-end Mexican these days, certainly much preferable to the warmed-over Ixcapuzalco (sad to say).
wak: La Sardine wins extra points from me for their
Tuesday night special (3 coures meal for $25) which is the best deal in town in my mind.
c8w: The big difference is that Pita Inn has faster service than Larsa's, and
is cheaper - and those are the most important things to most people
I think. Its also good, of course
Their lunch special is very good, and
might be the best deal in town.
AngrySarah: We went in early last evening and loved it. We brought our own bottle of wine, had the zuppa de pesce (please forgive the sp), green salad (wonderful), spaghetti and I forget the other name but it was the wide noodles with asparagus and mushrooms - 5 stars. Bill was $50, which may be the
best deal in town. Good bread, too.
Anyone got anything else from the archives or new suggestions/opinions?
cheers
