I try to go into any meal with an open mind.

I was heading back tonight from O'Hare. We were in a hurry to get home and stopped at the Rocky Rococo on Randall Road. It has recently opened a few weeks ago.

Instead of ordering a pizza, we selected the slices as we wanted to get home. $2.99 for a 3x5" square of pizza that had the ingredients and taste of a frozen pizza. It was completely tasteless.

I do not believe that they'll be around for six months with that product in this market.

You have to be kidding! Rocky Rococo? STILL!?!?!?

I haven't seen one of those since the 80s.

What's next? The return of Godfather's Pizza? ("For a pizza you can't refuse")

Yes they've been around for a long long time. And they've always sucked. It's not a franchise that has gone downhill, it's one that never even started going up the hill. But the name is just too cool to pass up.

Isn't Rocky Rococo a Firesign Theater character? (Maybe from Nick Danger?) I haven't heard that LP in many years but the name sounds familiar.

Definitely Firesign Theater - From their album "How Can You Be In Two Places At Once When You're Not Anywhere At All," aka "All Hail Marx & Lennon" [Groucho & John]

    Mike,

I read your post. That is one of my favorite Firesign albums of all time. So calm down and come in out of the cornstarch and dry your mucklucks by the cellophane.

I read it - I just wanted to show off my collection of Firesign Theater LPs in the basement (including a test pressing of Not Insane ... Or Anything You Want To)

And I was never impressed with Rocky Roccoco's pizza, either.

I missed it because the little "read new posts in this thread" icon brought me well below it. So yes, I'm blaming the computer.

Rocky Rococo brings back fond memories, at least those I can remember. :) I was a student at UW-Madison and I'd guess I ate at the Gilman Street Rocky's 50-times, at least.

My data may be a wee bit out of date, it's probably 25-years since I had a slice of Rocky's, but at the time they were a favorite. When I say favorite please take into consideration, among my friends and I, a favorite snack was Cheeto's dunked in pancake syrup then sprinkled with cayenne pepper. :)

    Enjoy,

Was that from a special jar labelled "Gary's cayenne pepper"?

I think that sounds entirely in character, adjusting for culinary maturity level.

My experience is much like gwiv's. Same Madison, Wi, Rocky's even. I lived next door. My diet alternated -- Rocky's "garden of eatin'" slice (more pizza cake than pie), Veveeta + Shells, and La Bamba burritos "as big as your head." Grim times. Amazing what you can stomach at 22.
