    Josh,

Thanks for the reminder, I meant to post that last week when I was at Sticky Rice Kritsana, the owner, mentioned her husband and a partner were opening Mis Asia, a pan Asian spot, where Tie me up once was.

    Enjoy,

I drove by last night and looks like Miss Asia is finally open.

Hearing there's a new Italian restaurant opening in the Ravinia section of Highland Park. no other details as of yet.

Name is Trattoria Valle D'Itria, going into the Tapis Rouge space. Sign was up this weekend. Also, a sign up at the old fresh pasta place on the corner of St. Johns and Roger Williams announcing Abigail's American Bistro coming soon.

Did a search and didn't find anything about this, but while driving today I
believe I saw a sign on the SW corner of Montrose & Central announcing Schoops. Only thing there now is the remains of the buildings that were recently torn down.

If Schoops is the same Schoops I'm thinking of that would be great. I grew up near Oak Lawn where there was a Schoops Flattop burger joint. Some of the best burgers I've ever had. Keep me posted on what comes to the spot

Are you sure it said Schoops? That would be good news indeed! When I drove by, I thought it said Scoops, which is a completely different thing.

Does anyone know what is going on in Barrington? Seems like so many restaurants are closing - Chau Chu, Pizza place on Main, Korean place by Jewel, Ecclectic. Does anyone know if any new restaurants will be opening in these locations?

I am 100% not sure. I was actually looking for Toot's which is on the GreaseFreak site and just saw out of the corner of my eye. Never did find Toot's and ended up at Mr D's on Diversy. Very good Steak Sandwich and Outstanding fries and Chili.

Someone reported all the the Toot's signage is in storage. There were hopes it may relocate and reopen somewhere else. However it is more doubtful it will come to be as time progresses.

mrs. riddlemay told me there's a sign indicating that the place on Diversey and Hampden Court (or is it Lehmann Court? can't quite place it on my mental Google Map) that used to be several iterations of a healthy-fast-food-wifi-cafe is going to be a Potbelly.

It would be Lehmann Court. I could never figure out if that's a cursed location or just a place that some folks chose to put a series of really crappy places.

I definitely think it's the latter, with the terifically-named "Three-Way Cafe" being the last in a series of ill conceived ventures. There's no Potbelly's in the area and I'd guess it'll do very well in that spot.

While a Potbelly's isn't exactly something to jump up and down about, I think it will be not only an improvement at that location but an improvement of that whole (dismal, but slowly growing less so, at the speed of paint drying) stretch of Diversey.

It's funny, because that 3-Way place closed pretty quickly after a major remodel. I wonder if Potbelly's just "wanted"' the space more. It will probably be a gold mine.

Also, it looks like Hey Sushi is officially permanently closed. Walking by last night on the way to Duke's for burgers, the awning had been replaced. The new occupant appears to be some sort of bar that also serves food (I can't remember the name of it).

BTW, Duke's is now serving a "breakfast burger" that might sound familiar...fried egg, bacon, etc. It's pretty good, not as good as Kuma's, but there's no wait and it's right around the corner from my place.

The group that owns Boka is planning to open Perennial, which they describe as a "contemporary bistro," in mid-April.
Giuseppe Tentori will have a hand in the menu, according to Nation's Restaurant News.

According to Centerstage, the address is 1800 N. Lincoln.

The former Hey Sushi space now sports an awning for an Irish bar named Crossroads.

Who thinks, "You know what Lincoln Park's really lacking? An Irish bar!"

Since I live about a block away, I'm hoping it's more gastropub than frat boy bar.

Living in the area as well, I know your pain all too well. The last thing we need is another Irish Pub/Sports Bar/Post-frat hangout hybrid. That being said, anything is going to be more appealing than Hey Sushi.

At our last community meeting, the owners of Smallbar (locations on W. Division and in Logan Square) presented plans to take over the former Ann Sather space on Belmont. Anyone been to their other locations? Gastropub or frat boy bar?

    Neither.

I have never tried the food at Smallbar on Albany, but I've been there a few times on account of their excellent beer selection.

That'd be a great addition to the neighborhood. Definitely not a frat bar!

They've got a terrificly extensive beer list, play good music and have above average bar food. Anywhere that serves Lagunitas Maximus IPA along with shrimp po boys and tater tots is welcome in my neighborhood. I wish they were the ones moving into the Hey Sushi space.

Kind of an Opening and a Closing: Bialy's Cafe on Chicago Avenue has morphed into Sunny Side Up. Unfortunately, the name change may not help a restaurant that has been slowly declining. Every Saturday, a group of 6-10 of us ended up in Bialy's/Sunny Side Up. The quality hasn't been there for weeks and the service, although always very nice because they knew us, was incredibly slow.
