Jacobs Bros. Bagels in the Loop

Anyone been to Jacobs Brothers Bagels in the financial district? Considering the limited lunch options in the area, I'm willing to try just about anything that isn't a chain in the loop.

This place has been closed for at least a couple of years. It's a bank now. There is an Intelligensia that is right next to that location though.

Limited lunch options in the area? Really?

Walk east on Jackson from Dearborn and you'll find plenty of decent lunch options that are not national chains. They include (in the order you'll encounter them) Chicken Planet, Lai-Lai Oriental/Korean Express, La Cocina, Fontano's, and Tokyo Lunch Boxes. Oh and the pseudo-Berghoff reincarnation a block north on Adams is actually pretty good.

P.S. None of these places are worth a special trip, but if you're already working in the area, they're good enough for lunch.

For purposes of the board's search feature, I'll just note that it's spelled Cavanaugh's. It's pretty good, too--I work in the building and eat there at least once a week. They always have a quiche of the day, which is generally very good, and their open-face ribeye sandwich is pretty tasty, served with mushroom gravy on rosemary focaccia bread.

It's nothing groundbreaking, but generally fresh, well-executed food.

Cavanaugh's?
