My apologies if this is listed elsewhere - is Burt's staying open from now on? I can't come tonight but would love to sometime in the future (when I get my car registered!)

    Hi,

Burt is back in the saddle starting tonight. You can count on him to prepare you pizza during his establishment's hours.

    Regards,

Sorry it took so long to put down the final details folks. Burt was out of town visiting grandkids as part of his R&R so we were unable to work everything out until this morning. Add to that the fact that I spent a good part of my morning at the vet's office with a sick cat and here we are.

We'll start taking calls for orders at around 3pm today. At that time, please place the full order for pizza and apps. We'll adjust times as needed to give everyone a leisurely munch on garlic bread and salads before the hot pizza hits the table. Feel free to order enough to take home for later if you like, but please let us know all of that up front so Burt will make enough dough for everyone's needs.

As stated in my initial post, everything will be at regular menu prices, nothing changes for this event.

It was suggested to me that this might be an April Fool's gag. I assure you it is not. I gave up some other activities this evening so I could be present to help out. We're going to have a lot of fun and great pizza to boot.

Here is the final (?) schedule:

    tapler, 2 people @ 5:00
jim the beer guy, 5 people @ 5:00
    ronnie suburban, 3 people @ 5:30
    eatchicago, 2 people @ 6:00
    Judy, 2 people @ 6:00
    germuska, 3 people @ 6:30
    gastro gnome, 2 people @ 6:30
    happy stomach, 2 people @ 7:00
panther in the den, 4 people @ 7:00
    steve z., 4 people @ 7:00
    jtk, 2 people @ 7:30
    LynnB, 2 people @ 7:30
    The GP, 2 people @ 8:00
    nr706, 2 people @ 8:00
    figmolly, 3 people @ 8:30
    Erik, 3 people @ 8:30

We look forward to seeing you all this evening!

Thanks to Burt, Sharon and Buddy for putting this together for us. The pizzas were as excellent as ever and it was great to see everyone in such good spirits. Burt clearly loves what he does and he seemed genuinely pleased to be back at it.

It was great also to see the Jim the Beer Guy/Saint Pizza clan, Judy and spouse and the eatchicago family, too.

The special, celebratory chocolate cake that was provided gratis was a very nice treat and I have to give a special thanks to Sharon for giving up her Strawberry donut to my son, whose recent food fussiness 'prevented' him from partaking of the cake.

All in all, it was a wonderful, delicious dinner and a truly happy occasion to celebrate!

Burt's back, baby and he's still the bee's knees! :D

I had a great time at Burt's tonight. Obviously, the pizza was outstanding, and it was great to see so many other LTHers, including SteveZ, the Chow Poodle, Jazzfood, the The GP and Mr. X, Panther In The Den, and to meet Eric and his friends.

But the best part of the evening, for me, was to be able to hang out and chat with Burt, Sharon, and Jeff (aka BuddyRoadhouse) after everyone else had left. I was lucky enough to be able to record some of my conversation with Burt, with the others occasionally chiming in. There's a lot of background noise, but it was fascinating to hear Burt talk about his start in the pizza business, his philosophy of the business, trends in pizza, and even his telephones. You can hear the conversation here.

I was about to cry over missing this event (and everyone attending) but hearing Burt's voice snapped me out of it! Thanks, Tom for posting.

Pizza, cake, and beer on a tuesday night! Was yesterday my birthday?

Thanks again to Burt, Sharon, and Buddy for putting together this fun, rare evening.

Burt's Place is a treasure, not just because of the pizza, but also because of the people involved.

    r,

My older sister, since her early teenage years, has proclaimed that she doesn't like chocolate cake. I have told her for decades now that this is a mental illness and she needs to see a professional.

This was my first taste ever of a Costco cake, and I have to say that it was darn good.

    Best,
    Michael

Just wanted to add my and my girlfriend's thanks to Burt, Sharon, and Buddy for a wonderful evening. The pizza was great. I got a whiff of it this morning as I cut two pieces for lunch, and I don't think I'll be able to hold out past 10:30 for lunch today. The chocolate cake from Costco was also outstanding. My girlfriend says it made her stomach very happy.

Thank you to Burt, Sharon, and Jeff from us, as well. It was a treat just to be back in the friendly atmosphere of Burt's, but the delicious pizza and hospitality of all really made the event for us. We're glad to have Burt back in action and look forward to many future visits!

Yum! I'm so glad we got to experience Burt's last night. The pizza was great and especially appreciated by my dad who was in town from Michigan. It was nice to see everyone - the whole evening felt like dinner at a friend's house. Buddy even made some eating suggestions in Grand Rapids, MI!

I'm going to be in Grand Rapids for a couple of days at the end of the month, so I'd like to find out what they are.

I'll post this query in the Beyond Chicagoland forum, but thought it couldn't hurt to post it here (where it's likely to be seen by you and Buddy).

Yes! That's exactly how Jimthebeerguy and I described it to each other on the way home. Wonderful sausage & banana pepper pizza, wonderful cake, to-die-for garlic bread, and, last but not least, out of this world hosts. Thank you, Burt, Jeff, and Sharon, for letting us dine at your home away from home.
