    LTH,

I'm sure some of us received 'interesting' food related holiday gifts, myself included.

I'll start the ball rolling with pepperoni biscotti. Yep, biscotti made with minced pepperoni.

Pepperoni flavor was mild, with little discernable bite from the pepperoni and the texture was crumbly/soft, at least for a biscotti. My sister in-law attributes this to grease from the pepperoni. This particular sister in-law, I have a bunch, is a damn good cook, very innovative and makes the best turkey gravy I have ever had the pleasure of eating.

I was pleased as punch to be a test subject for her Biscotti Project. Plus, it give me an interesting food story to write/talk about.

As an added bonus I now have the perfect Hammondesque treat for next Halloween. :)

    Enjoy,

    GWiv,

It looks like there may be a cheese component in the biscotti (which could also explain the "greasiness" right?). Usually I think of biscotti with coffee or tea, but this version would require a glass of red wine, I'd think.

Aside from some very interesting homemade marshmallows and other candy goodies from CQ, I got almost no food to speak of, but I did get a lot of food books, including one called American Sandwich, which has some interesting possibilities, e.g., a PB&J Bama Cristo (a fried peanutbutter, bacon, jelly sandwich).

I think, paisan, that there's already a tradition of biscotti with wine, especially sweet wines like marsala.

I agree that it's likely that the grease is making the biscotti crumbly; maybe a better direction would be a cookie/pastry like a cucidata [bet I spelled that wrong!] with a chopped pepperoni/cheese filling wrapped inside. Don't know what you'd frost it with, though.

    Erik,

I'm sure you got it the old fashioned way: you earned it.

Your posts nurturing our interest in Tank, as well as TAC and others, has made this restaurant a board favorite. I am certain they were pleased to find something you really wanted and appreciated to return the favor.

    Best wishes,
    Cathy2
