I posted this on Chowhound a couple days ago so I apologize if you are viewing this again (nxstasy) but I wanted to get additional opinions.
I've looked through the menus of all the following restaurants and find things I would love to have on all of them but I can choose one for bday dinner. In general I like fresh/lighter/seafood style food and a nice red wine list and all of these places seem to fit with at least a couple menu items. For those who have been to any and/or all which one would you pick and why?
    -Blackbird
    -One Sixtyblue
    -Naha
    -Spring
    -Sixteen
    -Shikago
    -Takashi
    -C-House (when it opens)
    -Sepia

I would say Naha, Spring, or Takashi would work best for you.

I would think white wine would be more important given your food preference. Any reason why red?

Blackbird. I had a lovely b-day celebration there a few years ago. They absolutely bent over backward for us. Especially me.

Too bad Trio is gone. Now, THAT was a birthday place!

You're right about white wine working better with my food preference but I just enjoy red wine more. It does suck because my food/wine pairings are often pretty far off that I have to enjoy them seperately.

Aw, heck I always say the pairing that works is the one you like.
You should drink what tastes good to you, not what someone else says you should, especially on your b-day!

Nothing wrong with a nice Gamay paired with fresh/lighter/seafood style food.

I liked my experience at Blackbird. I only stopped in for an appetizer and dessert, and as usual with expensive places, they were both small servings for not such a small price, but they were delicious and interesting (I don't remember the appetizer exactly but I remember it had quince and corn, and I think a bit of fish, and the dessert was the bacon ice cream with 'beignets'). One big complaint is the bathroom situation: there's only one stall, and thus, a line on weekend nights. But look behind the curtain when you get in there. Funny!

I was disappointed with Sepia. It is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful restaurants I have been in, but I was constantly being given odd looks, I assume because I was alone. I get treated oddly when I'm alone anyway, as I did at Blackbird, but there, the bartender kept trying to make conversation, while at Sepia, I was looked at like I had a giant scarlet letter A on my dress. I had the bacon flatbread, and not only was the bacon nearly raw, but it did not come with peaches as advertised, but apples. The pork rillette was not available. And, as a minor complaint and a warning for you: if you have a large ass or are a clod like me, do not sit on an end of the bench seat. The ends have arms, so you can't get out that way, and they space the tables so close together I kept bumping my duff into the other table. Luckily it was empty. But the dirty looks kept comin'.
