    All -

Looking for some good lunch options that are not going to break the bank. I just moved to pretty much Ashland and Division so I have already been hammering Pasadita. What else is out there? Does Habana Libre do lunch?

    Been to:
    Moonshine
    Milk N Honey
    Pasadita

    Thanks!

Might be a little west of you, but Irazu and Vella Cafe come to mind. Grocer and the Goddess for lunch to go. There's also Jerry's Sandwiches.

Check out this threadfor some additional suggestions.

Live in the same 'hood. My lunch options are usually Pasadita or Picante for a couple of tacos or torta; Small Bar for a nice burger and fries; Milk and Honey; Jerry's sandwiches; Piccolo for panini; Thai Village for a cheap, quick meal; or if I'm really desperate Jimmy Johns (yikes) or Odge's.

I still can't figure out why people go to Moonshine, Boundary, or Fifty/50 except for the eye candy. Service, food, and beer are all below average.

In the summer, you can head up to Pontiac Cafe for a sandwich and people watching. Of course if you're up that far, there are some other options for food. Sometimes, I'll jump in the car and head over to Bari for the best subs but it's hard to find parking.

You could jump on the Blue Line and hit the Western Stop for Irazu (previously mentioned) - it's very good. There's also Arturo's there and a crappy little hot dog stand that I was addicted to a few years ago (can't remember the name but it's on Armitage behind McDonald's).

Moonshine has a decent brunch and make your own bloody mary bar. That's about it.

Boundary could be fun for lunch depending on what sports are on.

its not my favorite place, but smoke daddy on division does pretty decent bbq fare. it did get a thumbs up from a foodie friend of mine who's originally from the south.
i also like harold's fried chicken on milwaukee. the side dishes are nothing special, but they do know how to deep fry some chicken.
also, not the finest chinese food in chicago, but mon lung on ashland above agusta is cheap and pretty good. i always see cops eating there, which many regard as a litmus test for neighborhood type places.
a bit further south on ashland, byob buenos aires forever does steaks, empanadas and argentine sandwiches. i believe they have some kind of pretty cheap lunch combo as well.

Other options to keep in mind:

Usagiya. Sushi and noodles on Milwaukee just south of Division/Ashland.

August. Mostly a grocery store but they have a few sandwiches and a daily soup. Never been, but my wife teaches nearby, has great taste, and says the food is good. It's on Division about two blocks east of Ashland.

Lovely. On Milwaukee, about a block and a half south of Division/Ashland. Not so much for lunch, but very good pastries and coffee, if you're into that sort of thing for a late morning, quasi-lunch event.

Piece offers a personal-size pizza and sandwiches until 5pm everyday (not sure about weekends, come to think of it). They're a good value and I've never seen Piece crowded during the day. It's one of my favorite ways to enjoy the food/beer.

There's also Santullos next door if you want a slice.

Letizia's has a sandwich menu, too. Until it opens up for the evening, I think people can freely use the outdoor seating typically reserved for Enoteca Roma.
