The new aviation commissioner thinks so, according to the Sun-Times.

What kind of restaurants would you like to see at O'Hare?

They just added a BJ's Market and Cafe on the K concourse food court. Unfortunately, I was there early in the morning and they were not serving soul food at the time.

They have to do something to improve the quality of the food at O'hare just to match the quality of the food at Midway.

I'm flying tomorrow and will seek out the O'Hare BJ's. I'm pretty sure I'll be in that terminal. Thanks for the tip!

Their International terminal really need some help. This terminal has nothing except a couple of places like McDonald's and a pizza place - it's pathetic!

My #1 recommendation for improving local flavor of the airport's dining would be to remove any franchised Uno's items. It's got to be the worst thing for Chicago food awareness they've got. Get Malnati's or Giordano's to open stands and you'll have a hit.

Al's Beef would be a good draw (if only because of the Leno connection)

They don't serve the "regular menu" until 11 am or so. When I was there in the morning, they were serving a pretty uninspired breakfast menu (but I don't like the restaurant options).

Personally, my airport favorite is Pagasus on the Fly at Midway with their salads, fruit bowls and some pretty great pastries.

The ideal would be to try to match the Pacific departure terminal at LAX. Man, you've never seen so many excellent noodle bars, terriaki joints, sushi places in an airport terminal in your life. Doing a land office business late on a Sunday night. Made me *really* eager to see what Oz was going to be like. It was a LOT like that! :)

Soul food sounds like a good start for O'Hare. But what else would be local? Hot Dogs, obviously, and Italian beef. But what else? Dream away, who knows what might happen?

Sooo, you like wine and are looking for something good to read? Maybe *this* will do the trick! :)

Soem of the local options at Midway include:

    Miller's Pub
    Lalo's
    Pegasus on the Fly
    Manny's
    Harry Carey's
    Gold Coast Dogs

A Mexican place (like Lalo's at Midway) because breakfast, lunch and dinner can all be strong. (And I know Lalo's isn't exactly the best place in the city, but it is better than Chi-Chi's).

Think about a Hot Doug's - and I know he only wants one restuarant, but the place would kill.

A real deli would be nice.

I second the vote for a decent noodle place. I also want a place where I can grab a quick sandwich to take on the plane. For that reason, I'd also like: Hannah's Bretzel, Ba Le or another banh mi place of comparable quality, and a nice, reliable falafel stand. The Istanbul airport has a little snack bar that sells adequate gyros and fantastic fresh-squeezed orange juice. That would be perfect.

Id like to see the following:

    Culver's
    Manny's (open very early)
    La Pasadita and/or el milagro

and a taste of Chicago food court...throw in Johnnie's, Malnati's, Weiner's circle and a gyro's joint of some sort.

Midway is miles ahead of O'Hare as far as food. The only thing worth eating when I travel thru O'hare is one of the Chicago-style dog's which are done the Vienna the beef way.
