FWIW, here is the thread from last year's festival. Which contains a very comical thread about a man in a soju bottle costume. Is his mouth taped on or is it taped shut? That is the question.

I must add that I'm very excited to go to this. I'm also wondering; why is this not listed on the LTH google calendar?

P.S. Does anyone who has the physical flyer for this event mind typing up or scanning the info? I cannot read the information on that link at all. Or maybe it's my computer monitor.

Also I'm going on saturday around lunch time. Perhaps we can convert this to an actual event rather than a mention of the weekend. Say noon on saturday anyone who comes has to sing karaoke!

I was there on Sunday at around 3pm and it was pretty busy. A ton of sample tables and what looked like vendor rep kiosks had been set up and it really congested cart flow*. There were some costumed characters I didn't recognize, too.

Super H-Mart has been my favorite grocery store ever since it opened in Niles. I find new reasons to like it each time I visit. If I go in for 'just $10 in fresh tuna steaks', I'll inevitably leave with a $50 hole in my checking and, in all the excitement and impulse buying, forgotten to buy the tuna I went for in the first place.

*My major gripe about H-Mart is one experienced at other groceries as well: A failure to collect and place shopping baskets near the entryways. At my local Butera or Tonys, I'll easily slip around and grab one from a checkout lane but at H-Mart, it's a crowded walk upstream through the mall traffic and back again. The congestion makes the effort worthwhile, though. I zip through the jammed aisles past cart pileups and gridlocks. Zoom-zoom.

Laikom, I apologize for not getting this event on the calendar, but I think you answered your own question:

Generally speaking, if the OP simply posts a link to an event, I won't put it on the calendar as even though it's only one more step to follow a link, sometimes that link leads to a link (or a low-resolution scan :D ), and fairly soon the time chasing down information adds up.

To all event posters, if you wish to have the event listed on the google calendar, please provide the basic info (nature of event, time, date, location) in the original post. Please also refer to Tips and Guidelines for Event Planners and Attendees

You, and others, are most welcome. This board has given me a lot of useful information over the years, and I'm glad I can say thanks, albeit in a small way.

Yes, thank you very much for the calendar. I'm sure it's a pain to keep up to date, and by no means was I being demanding, just wondered.

Anyhow, the Asian food fest was pretty good. Not as eventful as I had hoped (when I went on Saturday around 2), there were no events happening. I was hoping to see some good Karaoke or at least some “traditional dance”.

The highlight of my trip was the raw tuna sampling station. The guy cutting the tuna up actually offered that I stay around and have as much as I want! Then when I was leaving he said to come back for more soon. HAHA amazing! I sure did go back for more many times. To top it off there was a conveniently placed Soju tasting station right nearby that also had some Kim (seasoned seaweed) that I could eat with the tuna. So eventwise, I was a letdown, but i was there for the food, and I had a blast!
Part of the secret of a success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside.
