Boylan's cane cola

Hello all, I just wanted to share my thoughts on Boylan's Cane Cola which I tried today. I love the beverage case at the Gold Coast Whole Foods (the one with the individual sodas) and I usually get Amy & Brian's coconut water, Steaz soda, or sometimes Izze. Today I opted for the Boylan's and was pretty disappointed -- it tastes so flat. Anyone else think it lacks fizz? I mean, it had barely any fizz at all and was like flat syrup water. Either I got a dud bottle, or I have high carbonation standards. Either way I am not touching another bottle of this stuff Should have went with the Steaz cola or, heck, even the can of 365 house brand cola is leaps and bounds better for more than half the price.

I actually have never had a general problem with the fizz levels in Cane Cola (might be personal preference, though). However, what I have noticed is that rarely, some 4-packs (purchased at various Traders Joes and World Markets) seem 'stale' or a bit flat, like they have been sitting on the shelf forever. I think maybe you got a bad batch.

I will agreee that boylans is terrible. IMO most of the cane colas can't get it done for me. There is one, however that is the best soda I have ever tried, if you can find it:

Riggs & Forsythe Dry Cola is one of most unique colas we have ever tasted. Featuring genuine kola nut extract and a very mild flavor, this beverage is very unique. In addition, it has a nice citrus-like finish and contains no preservatives, artificial ingredients, or caffeine. Finally, we must say this product has awesome packaging -- a nice thick glass bottle with a very old-fashioned look.

I like the Riggs & Forsythe ginger ale but their other flavors don't do much for me. The bitter lemon is too Sprite-like and the cola isn't enough like Coca-Cola.

I also tried and disliked Fentiman's Curiosity Cola.

I visited Boylan's booth at the National Restaurant Show today, and noticed they had Boylan's Diet Cane Cola for sampling. Very cool retro bottle. But I was confused (not tough to accomplish). I asked how they could make a diet cola with cane sugar.

"There's no cane sugar in it ... it's an oxymoron."

Apparently, they view "cane" as part of the cola's brand name.

Draw your own conclusions. I didn't try it (mostly because the booth was so busy).
