I have late rehearsals on the South Side on Wednesay and Thursday of next week (6/4 and 6/5), and will undoubtedly would be eating at Seven Treasures or Joy Yee at about 10 PM on both nights on my way home, as is my fashion for such weeks.

I see a better dining opportunity, though: If I made a more formal decision of restaurant and time - for example, 9:30 PM on Wednesday 6/4 at "Little" Three Happiness, or 10 PM on Thursday 6/5 also at LTH - would any nightowls care to join me, particularly anyone with experience ordering the GNR-cited dishes the "right" way?

Let me know, and I'll park at LTH at a given time on either night, and adjust the subject line accordingly.

    Santander,

Wed is out for me, but a late night 'Little' Three Happiness on Thursday sounds fun. Put me down for a strong tentative.

    Enjoy,

I'd also be up for a late Thursday night meal.

Fantastic! Let's count on Thursday (6/5), 10 PM (if that's late enough).

Looking forward to tonight (Thursday), even if it's just solo or duo. Anyone out there, please feel free to pipe in on suggested dishes if you can't make it, or please join us/me ad hoc as you like. I'll be there just a hair after 10 and will be in no particular hurry.

Excellent news Gary, I have to be leaving home earlier and was planning on finding a Borders and reading for an hour or two, this sounds much better!

I have to stop at the Chinatown Mall to pick up some candy for an out of town friend first.

Last second addition. Phyllis, Gabe and I find we haven't had dinner yet, and late nite c-town is sort of an old tradition with us, so we'll try to make it too.

Hey - you guys rock. What fantastic company and delicious food, and I know have both menu names and WSL (Wiviott Sign Language) to help me order correctly in the future. Particular hits tonight were the crispy-skin chicken with lemon and fivespice salt, the shrimp toast, the salt and pepper squid, and the baby clams with crispy thin noodles (extra jalapeno!) and black bean sauce. Thanks for staying up late with me.

Just got home from a fairly harrowing drive home but it was worth it! Excellent food, convivial company and an all around good time.

Thanks to Matt for organizing. We had a good group:

Clockwise, from front, left - Phyllis, Gabe, kudho, Chris, GWiv, Octarine, Santander, and some strange reprobate

Although there was some interest in the soft shell crabs, we passed, as they were frozen, not fresh, and a bit more expensive than other offerings. Among the things we did try was duck and BBQ pork with hard-fried noodles:

The excellent salt and pepper squid

And Santander's inspiration, the very flavorful short ribs

Great company, good conversation, and an excellent way to spend a late Thursday night.

    Santander,

Great idea for a late night, or at least moderately late night, LTHForum get together. Food was on last night, rice noodles super crisp, just the way I like them, and the hot from the fryer crispy moist flavor packed shrimp toast the perfect kick start to our meal.

Conversation was a high point, with Chris commenting it put him in mind of when he lived in Spain and the far ranging topics discussed over late night meals.

Our waitress was really fun last night, in a subtle fashion, when we asked about soft shell crab, a wall sign special, she frowned and scrunched her face, * when we immediately switched to clams in black bean sauce Evil Ronnie style (light sauce, extra jalapeno on thin pan fried noodle) she broke into a smile and her face lit up.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

*Even though it's currently soft shell season, the soft shell crab was frozen and 2/$14
