    (I apologize that I don't have the link.) Did anyone see the wire service article from a day or so ago regarding accusations that Brunello producers have bee blending Merlot (Merlot fer crissakes!) into the sacred Sangiovese Grosso juice that makes Brunello?
    It's a big deal. The U.S. won't let it in ( I think) until it's settled. The Italians are investigating major producers. (Not, I believe, Biondi-Santi. But many others.) It's a trade issue, an industry issues, a national self-image issue.

    I'm not a big fan of Tuscan wines generally, but I guess they were helping make the sangiovese a little flashier.
