To thaw or not to thaw? I cant seem to find a straight answer
on-line and have a bag of TJ's frozen asparagus-they're on
the thin side. My gut instnct was to thaw first, then a little
salt/pepper /olive oil before hitting the grill. Any LTH expertise
    here would be appreciated.

In my experience, asparagus doesn't freeze well. Maybe TJ's uses their "icing" technique?

Regardless, you will not be able to grill frozen asparagus. Think soups, stews.

I'm with CG on this. I've tried many a time, even just barely blanching, but defrosted frozen asparagus 'product' is just too limp to do ANYthing other than make a mushy (but frequently quite tasty) ingredient.

You know, come to think of it, maybe you could put them in some kind of strong, stiff batter and crisp deep-fry them. That might work...

Maybe The Zuni Cafe chicken soup with rice, pancetta, and asparagus?

Soup is a great idea. Frozen asparagus also works well in a frittata or quiche.
