    LTH,

Jazzfood has been out of town, either a restaurant project in Miami or a Belizean jail, I forget, either way he's back for just a week and like all good LTHers has a list and is checking it twice. Jazzfood must haves include Mario's, Al's, Khan BBQ and the topic of this post Lao Sze Chuan.

We are meeting at Lao Sze Chuan Tuesday June 17th at 12:30 for, to name a few dishes, sliced Beef and Maw Szechuan style, Tony's Three Chili Chicken and the best Ma Po Tofu this side of Chengdu.

The more the merrier, all are welcome.

Funny, I thought Jazzfood was rolling cigars in Ybor City.

I'll do my best to make it Tuesday. As a former LSC virgin, ... well, no, I'm not going to go there.

wish I could make this, as I really enjoyed my maiden visit to LSC during the last LTH event there. I love cumin, and didn't realize how close a battle Szechuan cooking could give Indian cuisine when it comes to its usage. The lamb with cumin dish may have been somewhat one-dimensional, but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Well, a Tsingtao to wash it down would have been nice. Too bad lunch came in the middle of the work day.

I am going to try to make it there. Hopefully, it will be slightly less that the $47 going away (and bail money) lunch we had at Hae Woon Dae.

Kinda felt like I was getting prepped for jail

Trying to juggle the schedule so that a friend and I can join you for this. I'd say 70% right now. What's the latest status on the LSC liquor license? I have a hankering for hot Chinese food and cold beer and want to know if I should plan on bringing my own. Thanks.

Wish I could make it but count me as doubtful. There's an outside chance but I'm not optimistic.

    LTH,

Nice to see Jazzfood back in town, good turnout and a very nice lunch, though a couple of the usual suspects were slightly off today. Gratis Szechuan cabbage seemed very salty, Tony's Three Chili Chicken skewed toward sweet and had a lightly starchy taste, MaPo Tofu was, incredibly enough, dull flavored and sparse on sauce, it's as if there was a chef trainee substitute today. On the other hand, Dry Chili Prawns were plump, spicy and perfectly cooked as was Boil Beef in Szechuan sauce. Sliced Beef and Maw Szechuan Style was, as always, a treat.

Conversation was spirited and, I should point out, when I say a few dishes at LSC were slightly off it was still better, fresher, brighter and tastier than 97.87% of the restaurants in Chicago.

    Enjoy,
    Gary
