Not that it's strictly relevant, but doesn anyone remember a long Reader article a year or so ago detailing an endless feud between Joey's and either another tenant of the adjacent strip, or the landlord over parking? No one came out of it looking swell.
I remember when Joey's first opened there was a feud between the restaurant and the owner of the adjacent parking lot. Based on the article, both the restaurant owners as well as the parking lot owners came off as arrogant children who refused to give a little to help out the other. Not sure how much truth came about the article, but Joey's uses the whole episode as a shot at humor with signs posted around the restaurant and inserts within the menu mocking the situation.
Ultimately, you have a restaurant, which at night has an adjacent parking lot which remains empty because of their dispute. Parking in the neighborhood is not too bad usually, so not the end of the world, but I would think having free parking that close would help Joey's bring in a lot more business. Then again, with the way the staff operates, more business might not necessarily be the best thing for them.
