Kiku in west Carpentersville

Looks like a small storefront place called Kiku is opening/open on the south side of Huntley Road, east of Randall, at the light to go into the Dominicks shopping center.

Anyone familiar with this place or have info??

Had lunch there a couple weeks ago. Smallest tepanyaki place we've been to (only 4 tables), but the food was good. We were the only people in the place most of the time we were there.

My wife and I saw this restaurant while passing it on Randall Road. We are happy we stopped a few weeks ago. We've already been back several times. Their Hibachi and shows are very good, and the food is fresh. The sushi is among the best in the suburbs. I'm a big fan of sushi, and have had it all over the US at some of the finest places. There are two signs, in my opinion, of a higher end sushi place. The first is whether they carry Toro (fatty tuna). Virtually no suburban sushi places do because it is pricey. The second is whether they have real Kani (crab). Kiku has had both each time we have been there. Their presentation and creativeness is very good. If you cannot make it into the city, I cannot think of a better sushi restaurant. Their client base has been growing substantially since we last went there. The word is getting out. This is a keeper!

This must be associated with the Kiku place in Naperville. Same name and same concept. Steve and his sister are the owners and they do a fantastic job of making sure that everything they serve is exceedingly fresh. Their sushi is some of the best around and it has become harder and harder to get into this place as word of mouth has brought the hordes. They recently expanded into the store front next to them due to the fact that they always had a full waiting room and were turning folks away.

If this is the same place in Carpentersville than it should start to really catch on and before you know it, it will be hard to get in. I can't imagine that this is not Steve's plave considering the name. I hope he does as well as he has done in Naperville.

Went there for dinner a few weeks ago. We just had sushi. Sushi was great. Service was great. I'll go there again.

Yes we've gone about 5 times now, and enjoy it alot. Have had the sushi as well as cooked dishes. Not cheap, but excellent food.

We've been there twice. Yes, it's the smallest tepanyaki place I've ever seen. The food was OK both times.

The second visit was on my wife's birthday. We had a coupon from a local flyer for something like $10 off on your birthday, and they refused to honor it.
