Every once in a while there are threads about what cuisine is missing in Chicago (they usually draw more than their fair share of people complaining that people do not make {fill in food} they way they do in {fill in town} who have been here for 15 minutes and sampled {food} at two places within 3 minutes of their house or work

but I digress).
Portugese is my standard reply. A little Vinho Verde, a little marinated squid, etc. Especially in the summer. Makes me want to head to Newark, or any number of other northeastern towns with decent-sized Portugese and Brazilian populations. Alas, not here.
