Last year one of my most read reviews, was my guide to the taste of Chicago. Last year I sampled 35 different vendors in 3 hours, and did a mini review on each place. Most places I did taste portions and some I did full portions. This year I'm on the quest for all 65(all taste portions)! I think I can do it! I'm going opening day and will try to eat at all places within a 6 hour period. I'm posting a preview about the taste and my quest on the forum to hopefully build some excitement. I'm gonna take a picture of me at each booth to document my quest, and then that night I'll post my results and my comprehensive guide to this years taste(assuming I don't puke). I'm planning on sharing with the vendors what I'm doing. My friends think I'm nuts, but hey I am Hungry Z for a reason. If you're at the Taste next Friday, look for me and definately cheer me on! Here's a link to last years guide http://www.hungryz.com/tasteofchicago.html Z

Hi,
I don't know if you are willing to share this information, but I would be interested in the total price of this adventure in dollars and cents. Monica's expenses were well over $1000 as I recall, though the Chicago Tribune picked up the tab.

Assuming that taste portions are still 3 tickets each, then that would be 195 tickets or $98. Nowhere near the $1000 she spent. I am not trying everything at every booth, instead I'm trying the taste portion at every booth. Most people go to the taste to sample many different foods, this is my way of trying something from everyone, and then writing up a guide to the taste for people to enjoy.

A couple of new developments in my quest, NBC5 will have a live roaming camera following me on my quest and have it streaming live at nbc5.com. In addition we'll do a live blog, offering my opinion of each place and how my stomach is holding up. There might be more news coming so stay tuned. If you see me down there next friday (11am-5pm), definately say hello, I can use all the support I can get. BTW, I'll be the guy with the camera following me around.

I tried posting the video montage of my T.O.C. coverage, but the code just came up as code and no video. Check the bottom of my Taste guide for a couple of videos including my morning show spot and a montage of all my news spots and live reviews. Unfortunately I underestimated how much time would be lost due to live on air reviews, and my day ended at 40 taste portions. Next year we'll plan for it and make it an all day event. If anyone knows how to put a video on the forum, let me know, I have the code. http://www.hungryz.com/tasteofchicago.html
