Me and some friends went to Berry Chill last night and I really liked it. It is almost an exact copy of Pinkberry, at least to me, the look and feel of the store and the taste is almost the exact same. I got a medium original with raspberries and choco chips and it was just addicting, as I want some now as I am typing this up.

They had three flavors last night, original (which has a tangy yogurt taste), pina colada and mango. I also tasted the mango which was very good to me. They have a lot of different toppings as well, including lots of fresh fruit; mangos, papaya, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, kiwi, raspberries, bananas, etc. girl scout mint thins, girl scout somoas (spl), pie crust from pie, milk and honey granola, I mean the list goes on.

The wait was about 10 minutes, at most, the line was really long, it was almost like going to a bar, I would definitely give it a try.

There is also another one opening up in the Ogilvie train station, not sure when though.

I too am very impressed with Berry Chill, although it is pricey. I've been there a few times and I can finally say that this is frozen yogurt that actually tastes like yogurt . . . quite tart and not too sweet. I was also impressed with the generally smooth texture and the quality of the fruit toppings (i.e., in terms of freshness). Add in the fact that it's pretty healthy and you've got a winner. According to their website, they will soon have three locations.

I also tried YoBerri on Halsted in Lincoln Park and while I liked the flavor, I found the texture to be somewhat more grainy than that of the Berry Chill yogurt.

I have to agree with this comment. I like Berry Chill's version better. YoBerri seemed icier in texture, and a little watered-down in flavor.

I think the ripeness of the fruit at Berry Chill is hit-or-miss. The mango topping I had was not really ripe at all. I did like their mango peach flavored yogurt, however. I got it with no toppings. The location on State St is convenient for having lunch at Ginza, followed by a yogurt at Berry Chill for the walk back to the office!

Has anyone tried a BC blast? According to their website, "It's a mix so chunky, you'll have to eat it with a spoon." I've only had regular orders with toppings and have never been that happy with how my toppings work. That's probably due to my own preference for having things in yogurt (or ice cream) instead of on it.

Okay, so I went again yesterday, I am addicted. I had the BC Blast with original yogurt, yogurt chips, carob chips and the samoa girl scout cookies....everyone I was with voted it the best at the table in terms of taste. The topping proportion was perfect adn yes it was so thick I needed a spoon until the last 1/4 I would say.

I wasn't as impressed the first time I at at YoBerri, but I liked it better the second time. Overall, I think both YoBerri and Berry Chill are great...it's such a refreshing summer snack, it doesn't leave you with that sticky-sweet taste that ice cream can.

I've been spending a lot of time in Southern California, and I've made it my personal quest to try all of the frozen yogurt places within walking distance. For better or worse, my boyfriend has also gotten hooked. Normally, that's a good thing, but the last time we were there he insisted that we make the 2 mile roundtrip walk to Pinkberry in 95' heat. The payoff was great, but I'm not certain that I'd do it again in that weather. There's one thing I like about Pinkberry that I haven't seen at any of the other frozen yogurt places I've frequented...surprisingly, Pinkberry is the only one that seems to regularly sell green-tea flavored yogurt. If BerryChill or YoBerri include it in their rotation, I've never see it. (Nor have I seen it at the other two places I've tried in LA.)

Well, Red Mango just opened up in downtown Evanston, and it's an exact clone of Pinkberry. Each of which I've tried twice -- my first and last. No disrespect to those of you who like this stuff, but it's just too tart/weird for my tastes and most importantly, no healthier than TCBY. Still contains a good-sized dose of sugar. Plus it's expensive for what you get. I'll see you down the block at Cold Stone.

I tried Red Mango in Evanston today and I liked it a lot. I found the texture of their yogurt to be slightly creamier than Berry Chill's, although I preferred Berry Chill's slightly tarter flavor. Red Mango offers two flavors -- green tea and original (plain) -- and they offer several toppings including fresh fruit (relatively speaking). I had the green tea (I had a taste of the original) and enjoyed the subtle but certain green tea flavor.

According to their website, they have many locations across the US, including one in Evanston and one in Naperville.

As for nutrition, the yogurt is fat free, so in that respect it is actually a little better than TCBY. Oh, and also unlike TCBY, it actually tastes like yogurt.

Well, Red Mango tastes like Pinkberry because Pinkberry is a ripoff of RM. Red Mango was the original South Korean enterprise when Pinkberry stole the idea and took it statewide (you can read the story on their website.)

I would say that Berry Chill is still a sorry imitation of Pinkberry, it just lacks the texture and its still way too icy for me in those ridiculous cups that doesn't allow you to KEEP the toppings that you've paid for from falling onto the ground.

I hate Starfruit on Division because its perversion of an already good product, Kefir. And I've found the best way to overcome by Pinkberry cravings are to make my frozen yogurt (just mix greek yogurt with sugar and freeze, delishious and cheap).
