I normally cut church festivals a lot of slack when it comes to the food. However, I attended this festival as did several of my friends in Palatine and noone was happy.
A small gyro served with sad looking tomatoes and three rings of raw onion for $9. the pita was hard. The gyro meat was shredded, not three whole slices on top of a pile of shreds and crumbles. There was a layer of grease underlying the sandwich. I could order all of the same at any gyro stand for half the price and get a lot better food.
The Greek salad was not much better as the container was half filled for $3.
I guess that I am more used to Greek festivals where the church ladies cook their hearts out preparing fine Greek authentic cuisine that would give Greektown a run for their money.
Also, there is a $2 parking fee.
