Post #1 - July 14th, 2008, 9:21 amI know absolutely nothing about Greek wine.
Anyone that can offer a brief primer? I am looking at the Pegasus wine list and the only wine I know I like is the French Burgundy.
The reason I'm choosing this restaurant is for the rooftop/veranda and not necessarily the food.

Post #2 - July 14th, 2008, 8:07 pmI absolutely love moschofilero's, though they aren't for everyone- they tend to be really dry with a unique finish- more tart than dry in a lot of cases- that's white wine though.
Also, on their wine list they have the Trimbach pinot blanc which has been one of my favorite pinot blancs for a while now.
I'm not a super help on reds though.is making all his reservations under the name Steve Plotnicki from now on.

Post #4 - July 17th, 2008, 5:52 pmWe recently had the Boutari Naoussa, which is described on the label as a dry red, and a Megapanos Savatiano, which is a dry white. Both were good. I've rarely had a Greek wine that I didn't like. I'm hoping that says more about the wine than it does about me, but there you have it. Binny's doesn't have the Skouras Moschofilero any more that I really liked. I also like Retsina. I had a Greek cookbook that had a really good section on wine, but I've returned it to the library. Mezes, was the title, I think, FWIW.

Bill Daley talked up Boutari's moschofilero a couple years ago in a few different columns (I think), and I finally bought a bottle. I thought it was nice enough, but I also never bought it again.

I'll have to ask for it. They never have it on the shelf at my local store anymore. Didn't think to check the website. Thanks for pointing it out.
