Well, that's not really my question. But, riffing on the title of MFK Fisher's war-time book How to Cook a Wolf, I'd like to ask: How is everyone adjusting their grocery shopping/eating habits in these tough economic times?
I've been rather cavalier about eating out: expensive sub-par work lunches in Evanston, dining at favorite local and economical restaurants: Patty's in Skokie, Renga Tei in Lincolnwood, Cuetzala Gro in Rogers Park.
Here's what we have been doing. Grocery shopping at Morse Street Market in the RP, instead of Whole Foods in the North and South of Evanston. Frozen Chinese dinners purchased at Golden Pacific. This weekend we drove to Eurostyle Deli in Skokie and bought sausage and cheese. Sometimes we stock up on wine at Trader Joe's.
How is everyone coping? I should probably re-read that book!
