Or a chicken picnic in a park by the river.

I think El Pollo Giro is great, so I propose the next far west LTH get-together be an al fresco chicken fiesta in Aurora. It would work like this - we rendez vous at EPG to pick up some number of chickens (1/2 chicken per person), say at 1pm. Depending on the numbers, I will call ahead to warn them how many chickens I think we will be requesting. Then we drive across the river and a mile or so south to picnic in the park by the Fox River on delectable chicken (if there are any Aurora natives who wish to suggest exactly where the best park is, please chime in).

As with most of my events, and to the exasperation of some of my fellow LTH'ers, who yearn for a more fixed plan, if you would like to attend but have problems with this date, please post accordingly with dates that might work. Depending on the response in a week or so, I may switch dates.

Everyone bring their own lawn chairs and beverages if the horchata and soft drinks at EPG do not suit you.

I just noticed this place this morning when we went to the Aurora Farmer's Market. There is a park on an island in the River off of Illinois Street bridge that should be good for you, this is very close to the restaurant. If that does not work, there is another park on the west bank of the River right there on Illinois behind the Prisco Community Center. Lots of large oaks in both places but I can't remember if there are tables. I should have checked it out but we were between errands with time limits.

    David,

I'm in for a tentative 2. I'll bring the other carnivore in my household and update as the day gets closer.

LTE - are you planning to join us, or just providing intelligence? One is good, the other better - just trying to understand.

Glad to hear you are in Tony - somewhere I can hear Flip sighing.

Mostly providing info at this point, I don't get around very well and Saturday was my first time out of the house in 2 weeks. It's really difficult for me to make plans because I don't know how I feel until the moment. I was surprised to see El Pollo Giro, I think there was an Indian restaurant there years ago. Hopefully they can pick up that sad little Plaza.

Time to bump this and see if we have any more interest. Tony, you still in? It would be fun to see the kids anyway, and I may convince some of my family members to come along, too.

Looks likely to be warm on Saturday, not clear whether there will be rain. 5 day forecasts are notoriously inaccurate, anyway.

    David,

I'm still in and looking forward to it. What time were you thinking?

Does 2pm work for you? I could get there a bit earlier, but I am not sure how much. Have not determined how many of us there will be, but I expect Marie will come. Can't say about the kids.

We are meeting at EPG at 2pm and then having a picnic by the river. All are welcome.

No, it did not happen. Working on a reschedule. It was raining on and off, so we postponed.

The chicken is always good, in my experience.
