I only eat Illinois sweet corn, and then only eat it for the approx. month each year when it is at its prime. Today I purchased some Peaches and Cream Sweet corn from 2 different vendors @ the Ottawa Farmers market

I bought 12 ears from one vendor for $3.00

I also purchased 4 ears from a vendor for $1.00

Other items I bough that looked great:

    salad mix
    carrots
    cucumbers
    blueberries
    broccoli

All items will go great this week with the thick sirloin steak, sea scallops, and mahi I purchased from Polancics Meat Market in Ottawa. Goota love small town vendors, and living.

Oh sweet corn time, my favorite time of year. I love living down in Illinois and being surprised by fresh sweet corn a few weeks earlier than I was "trained" to crave it growing up.

I'm eating some sweet corn that I roasted in the husk with a bit of compound butter with chipotle, garlic and sundried tomatoes. I bought the corn at the Nettlehorst market this morning. Mighty tasty. The corn could easily have stood on its own.

prepared 8 ears of the peaches and cream sweet corn on the grill last night.

put the corn, husks intact in some ice water for about 2.5 hours before grilling. Then grilled for about 20 minutes. The corn was top notch, and what I have been waiting for sincel last year. served old school with some salt and butter. although I did munch on some of the ends that I cut off plain, and the corn was very tender, and sweet.

I have 8 more ears of corn for tonight with the sea scallops I will grill.

I'm in Northern Michigan and the farm stands are bristling with fruit. Blueberries and cherries abound. A few of the farm stands are starting to put out some local sweet corn, but the few ears I checked out told me that there are still a few weeks to go before you could call it "corn season" up here.

Corner of 83 & 137, just north of Mundelein. Little farm stand has bi-color from Harvard and Kentucky tomatoes.

Will, sounds like a winner. Would you mind elaborating a bit on the prep?

Went to 83&137 and didn't find any stand, but did find one selling the bi-color and tomatoes about 2 miles south of there on the northwest corner of 83 and Peterson.

We had some of the corn tonight and it was excellent.
