Purple Asparagus, the non-profit that both G Wiv and I serve on the board, is having its annual benefit at Webster's Wine Bar. The organization is a non-profit dedicated to bringing families back to the table by promoting and enjoying all the things associated with good eating. In addition to hosting family friendly events in Chicagoland, we organize outreach activities in at-risk communities, including our work in the Chicago Public Schools and with the Greater Chicago Food Depository's Kids Cafe at Corazon Community Services in Cicero. In this program, once a quarter, we help a group of teenagers plan, prepare and serve dinner to their families. (We have one upcoming on September 25 for anyone interested in helping out.)
Corks & Crayons is our 4th annual benefit, which will be on August 24 from 4-7pm at Webster's Wine Bar. We'll have a nice selection of Webster's menu, wine, beer and non-alcoholic selection. We have a great silent auction, including items such as a BBQ tour with our own Gary Wiviott, a localvore dinner for 6 from my own Monogramme Events, a wine tasting event from Lush Wine & Spirits, a gift basket from Frontera Foods and lots of wonderful wine and restaurant packages.
It's been a fun event in the past and we do hope that you'll consider joining us to support the valuable work that we do in exposing Chicago families to good food.
