Could you be a little more specific as to your location and how far you're able to travel - or are you looking for delivery? Otherwise, there's a great selection of in-Chicago Northside asian on Argyle, many of them listed on the GNR list, which is sorted first by cuisine and second by location.

There is an Opart's Thai just north of the Old Orchard Mall on Skokie Blvd, across the street from the Baker's Square in Wilmette.

Thai Pavilion Restaurant in Skokie has been a hidden neighborhood gem for a while now.

I haven't been there in a while but IIRC, they have both Chinese and Filipino dishes and are very popular with the local Taiwanese community. Somebody else called it "Americanized" but I think that means they didn't order carefully.

Try Tub Tim Thai in Skokie-- I have been happy every time I've been there with friends, including New Year's Eve last year. Very sedate atmosphere. Not the most "authentic" Thai around ( I live near Spoon) but good for the North Shore.
Man : I can't understand how a poet like you can eat that stuff.
    T. S. Eliot: Ah, but you're not a poet.

This thread got me me to thinking............while I haven't been in far too long, I recall visiting PineYard in Evanston. Years ago it used to be located on Church St. right next to the "Old" Dave's restaurant location. Last I knew, PineYard is now a block south on Davis St.

Outstanding (and piping hot) soups are what I remember, along with some of the finest tasting crispest(sp?) vegetable dishes. Any recent reports?

For farther north northshore, I still recommend Yu's Sechwann (formerly northbrook's "Golden Crown" and more of a carry-out now, although some seating is available) in Highland Park for their hongsu chicken mentioned in another thread.

I like Pine Yard, too - that and Joy Yee's are probably Evanston's two best pure Chinese joints (Koi mixes Chinese with sushi; Phoenix Inn has history on its side).

The last time I went to Pine Yard was indeed the last time - the food was wretched. Very disappointing, as I'd been a customer for nearly 20 years. There are far better and more authentic places within 20 minutes, so what's the point?
