Good to know there were no injuries - between this and the Loop location closing, it's been a crappy year for these sweet people. I wish them well, both for the normal reasons and the culinary ones.
We usually luck out with the parking at the Ashland location. Maybe it's the gods helping out because we enjoy the sandwiches, sopas, salads and soups so much. Fresh and flavorful, nice textures and the portions are plenty big.
When the Americano location opened down the block, I was recommending it all over the place. (I don't remember if they called it "americano' when they opened - or at least, I didn't notice it.) Anyway, my credibility with some neighbors was put in question. There was none of the goodness of the Ashland location, including the baked goods, imo, just the usual turkey, etc. sandwiches/take-away salads. But at least they had agua fresca. And make that
used to have. No more. Nor the big, welcoming jug of refreshing citrus and herb water. I still think a version closer to the originals would do well here.
I have to get over to Ashland.
