City Provisions Supper Club: Sustainability with Food and Drink
    Wednesday, August 27, 2008, 7 p.m.
    1820 West Wilson, Chicago

Cleetus Friedman, owner of City Provisions, met Pat Conway, owner of Great Lakes Brewery, at the Green Business Conference and they quickly realized that they were two like minded individuals with a passion, not only for what they do, but for the environment and those around them. Join City Provisions this month as Pat Conway speaks of his beers and business practices and you enjoy the bounty of the season with an abundant five-course meal--using local, sustainable farms paired with beer donated by Great Lakes Brewery. The price for this amazing experience is $60.00 per person, which includes tax and tip.

    Gastrogora,

The business owner himself posted about this event a few days ago. I don't think you have done him any favors by posting the same text and raising his price by $40. What's the reason for the huge price discrepancy? Could you please explain what your affiliation is - if any - with City Provisions?

    Thanks,
    Kennyz

edited to note that when I posted this, gastrogora's post was in a different thread that the Moderators have apparently now merged with this one. That's why the link above goes nowhere.

just an FYI, we had originally priced the dinner at $100 but have brought the price down to $60.00 in hopes of getting to a larger audience.
Thank you, LTH, for looking out.

    Cleetus,

Thanks for the clarification, and I wish you well in this event. It sounds like fun and 60 bucks is a better-than-reasonable price. I recently attended an event catered by City Provisions - the food was terrific, and your commitment to sourcing local ingredients and staying green is admirable. I have found your very upfront posts about the company terrific. I wish everyone were as upfront as you about their affiliations, and didn't just give us these fly by PR-firm-like posts.

Thanks Cleetus for clearing up any confusion on my previous posting. I just wanted to make sure that this event was listed for the LTH community. I was unaware of the price change! Sorry LTH crew. I will be sure to check my facts twice before posting again.

Thanks, gastrogora. I think it would also be appreciated by many if you would post any affiliation you might have with the establishments you are promoting on the forum.
