My second 'burb recommendation from the 'burbs is not a culinary wasteland thread.

I know this can be a heated topic, but I swear I'd rather eat Georgio's deep dish than any other place in Chicagoland. After eating here for months I was still thinking I liked some other places better-particularly Lou Malnati's. Now, there is a Lou's in Crystal Lake and I can eat either one any time I want to, I've figured out that I like Georgio's better. The sauce is a little thicker and more pasty, so it doesn't run off the pizza and soften the crust too much. Just my personal opinion, but I've met a number of people who agree with me.

They make a great pizza and we'd certainly go there more often if we lived closer. The atmosphere is also pleasant with a friendly casual bar feel. However, it's firmly #3 on our list behind Burt's Place and Lou Malnati's. The sauce, while sweet and tasty, is too wet and there's too much cheese (even when asking for light cheese). If you like green olives (and I do :D) then you might want to give them a try. I've tried a lot of green olive pizzas and theirs is second only to Mr. Burt's.

I haven't tried their carry-out location but plan on it even though it's still a 30 minute drive back from there.

I'll give this place a try for sure when I'm out in Crystal Lake. But that isn't often, so I hope I remember it!

It better be really good Slim or I'm comin' after you!

I always hope on these recommendations that the restaurant doesn't have an off day. Now with that threat and the fact that I work in the building next door, I'm nervous.

I've never had Burt's Place, but I'll give it a shot too.
