I work in the Loop (Madison and Wacker) and an intern that I work with is leaving on Friday and really wants to go eat potato pancakes tomorrow for lunch, sort of a goodbye lunch.

Does anyone have any good suggestions in the area?

Do you have access to a car (or willingness to pay for a cab)? If so, Manny's potato pancakes are the clear front-runner.

Yes, while many debate which delis around the country belong in the "great" category, and Manny's meats have their detractors, it can't seriously be contended that the potato pancakes are better at the ususal suspects in NY, LA, Indy (!) etc... This town has some good potato pancake options, what with the German and Polish shops along w/ Manny's.

if you're willing to take the Blue Line down to Division the potato pancakes at Podhalanka are amazing! I would also recommend the ones at Sally's Waffle House but I don't think you'll want to take the Blue Line all the way to Jefferson Park.

    MB,

Podhalanka is an excellent suggestion, potato pancakes and White Borscht a heck of a one-two punch meal.

Where is Sally's Waffle House? The only Sally's I am familiar with, aside from the long gone Grandma Sally's on Diversey, is at 5454 Harlem, which is an ok, but nothing to get excited about, coffee shop.

    Enjoy,

The potato pancakes at Ada's Deli on Wabash are pretty decent, and it's close to your office. They're at 14 S. Wabash.

Thanks everyone. I am willing to always travel for food, but my colleagues...not too much. :)

I think we might try Ada's deli, thank you all for the future suggestions though. :)
