"Duke" blueberries

At today's Daley Center market, Mick Klug had a new (for them and me, at least) variety of blueberries called "Duke". These are the best I've had this summer. I tend to like blueberries with a nice acidic punch, and these do not disappoint. Plenty of sweetness too, but that acid really makes the blueberry flavor pop. If you're thinking about preserving blueberries for the fall/ winter, these are the ones. Or just eat an entire box like I just did.

Kenny, reading your epicurean adventures lately, I'm a bit concerned you might come up with Violet Beauregardesyndrome.

Thanks for the heads-up; I often find blueberries to be without flavor at all (mostly at grocery stores,) and sometimes without depth. I'll be on the lookout.

I went around 11:15am, and all they had were "plain blueberries" as the young kid said.
