I fear your Monday list will grow very long.

I always assume a restaurant will be closed on a Monday, and I'm often right.

Also, most sushi places are closed Tuesdays.

Finally, the best defense is to pick up a phone before you go anywhere.

Does Casa de Isaac in Highland Park still close on certain hours for Fridays and Saturdays? These are their weekend hours from what I remember:

Fri: 7 AM to 1 hour before sundown
    Saturday: Closed during the summer.
(open 1 hour after sundown during the winter)
Fettuccine alfredo is mac and cheese for adults.

Yeah, Monday should win by a mile. But then we have the exciting face-off between Friday and Sunday. Literally minutes of fun!

(I guess Mizrahi is closed for dinner on Fridays, but that doesn't really count.)

And Huaraches Dona Chio, for example, used to be closed on Mondays but now apparently is not. Now can you feel the excitement build???

I'm embarassed to admit to how many times I've tried to go to Renga-Tei on a Tuesday AND then said "Oh yeah, fine. Let's just spend a little more and go to Katsu."

Add Katsu to list of closed on Tuesday's as well.

I applaud this thread; hope it builds and becomes sticky (but then of course someone will have to maintain it; if it heads that direction, PM me if you need a team, cilantro).

"Team Cilantro" would be either a great band name or a 501(c)3 nonprofit foundation promoting organic Mexican agriculture.

A number of other Vietnamese places on Argyle--Pho Xua and Cafe Hoang come to mind--are also closed on Thursdays. I've always wanted to know why, though. Thursday is always the day I get Sun Wah cravings :(

Updated. Thanks to everyone for the additions!

The staggered closing schedules of Argyle restaurants is a competitive measure, as I recall. Since Tank is closed Wednesdays, other places will stay open so as to pick up some of its very healthy business. I didn't know about sushi places and Tuesdays -- maybe the same kind of thing?

    Can't believe I forgot Hot Doug's.

I'll update the list regularly, but if I were to meet an untimely demise I want Santander to take over. Actually, scratch that -- if I were to meet an untimely demise I want Santander brought in for questioning.

    Per their web site:

So they are closed for dinner on Fridays and closed till late dinner on Saturdays.

Over Easy Cafe and Terragusto are also closed on Mondays.

Not to split hairs, but in case anyone else is trying to search for it, it's Mrs. Murphy's, not Mother Murphy's.

Also, since we're on the topic of hours of operation, it's interesting to note that Jeri's Grill at Western and Montrose is no longer 24/7. They now close around 1:30 pm on Sunday and re-open Monday morning around 6.
