Driving back from Northern Wisconsin, just a little too late for the tour at Stevens Point Brewery, I stopped in a nearby bar, and asked what they had on tap, especially local. Expecting one of the excellent specialty brews from Point, the guy behind the bar asked if I'd had The Big O. (No, I'm not going there.) It turned out to be what I thought was a surprisingly good biére de garde style ale from a little brewery, improbably located in a strip mall just down the road, in Plover, WI. Their products aren't available in Illinois - heck, they're barely available in Wisconsin. Has anyone else tried their brews?

I haven't heard of them, either, but it looks like they'll be making an appearance at the Great Lakes Brew Fest (full list of participating brewers here). Why not stop by and ask them directly why they're not in Chicago yet?

O'so was one of the highlights of the Minocqua Brewfest that I attended this past July. They had a lot of good beers present and were pretty popular. I remember liking Picnic Ants in particular. They also have a selection of Belgian sour ales, which I somehow missed at the 2007 event.
