This makes me want to get an alarm clock and have a reason to get up early now. WOW.

Love it. What a pleasant way to wake up. Although it would make me want bacon every morning. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I just don't know if I could stop with just one.

I am firmly of the belief that they stole this fantastic idea from Michael Scott (Steve Carell) from The Office on NBC. If you haven't watched the episode "The Injury", it is a must-see. In Michael's own words:

"I enjoy having breakfast in bed. I like waking up to the smell of bacon, sue me. And since I don't have a butler, I have to do it myself. So, most nights before I go to bed, I will lay six strips of bacon out on my George Foreman grill. Then I go to sleep. When I wake up, I plug in the grill. I go back to sleep again. Then I wake up to the smell of crackling bacon. It is delicious, it's good for me, it's the perfect way to start the day."

Just be careful to not step on said alarm clock or Foreman Grill otherwise hilarity may ensue.

Why not just hook a George Foreman grill up to a timer, like people use to control lights when they're away on vacation? Lay a strip or two of bacon on the grill, set the timer for, say 6:50, your regular alarm for 7, and wake up to bacon?

    Idea patent pending.

No to go all food nanny on this thread, but is there a food safety issue here if bacon is sitting out unrefrigerated for 6-10 hours?

I don't know. I was living in Charleston post-Hurricane Hugo back in '89. Most of the grocers had thrown out their fresh meat because it had all spoiled when the power went out. For that first two weeks, even though there was no power, and thus, no refrigeration, there was bacon in all of the stores- and it was warm. As a matter of fact, it was our sole source of protein for those two weeks- a true silver lining to a little cloud of despair. I learned to cook it quite well on a camp stove.
