    Hello, everyone:

My husband has a big birthday coming up, and I'd like to take him out someplace that would be a special night out --- attractive and relaxing, with great food and good service --- somewhere that would be memorable.

We don't typically dine out in high-end restaurants here --- we live in Uptown, close to lots of great places for casual dining, so we reserve the fancy spots for when we're on vacation. Consequently I'm a little lost as to what would be a good place for a celebratory dinner. He really likes Italian food, and has been very pleased and made wonderful meals from the things I have brought home from the markets on Harlem. Are there any restaurants out there that would be a good bet? I'm not stuck on the idea of Italian food, so any suggestions for places that you all think would be a good birthday surprise would be welcome.

    Thank you for your help.

What price range are you thinking? $$$$$$$$$$$$$
If your looking for high end Italian fare than Spiaggia is the spot! I haven't presonally eaten there but my friends love it!!! It's the only 4 star Italian restaurant . I hear the service is superb. Good luck & Happy eating!

    Spiaggia
    980 N. Michigan Ave.

If it's Harlem Avenue Italian you're looking for you might want to try Agostino's which is on Harlem and Diversey. It's a great Italian restaurant with very reasonable prices and excellent food. I've never been disappointed with a meal there. They have great fish specials, always very fresh and served with heaping amounts of garlic (as is everything else on the menu).

    For Italian, nothing beats Bruna's:
