I had occasion to be in Waukegan and had lunch at the Yacht Club there. Its set amid industrial property and boat marinas. Down the road is a nice beach with a great view looking towards to lake, not back.

The Yacht Club serves a great burger. I was surprised. They also have sweet potato fries and regular fries. I had the regular and they were just average. The rest of the people in my party all liked their food which was basically lunch fare but it all looked pretty good. They offered "homemade strawberry bread pudding" for dessert which no one ordered because they were too full. They also have a blue cheese burger which I did not get.

I'm pretty sure they let anyone in even though the door says members only. Just cover your tatoos and piercings :)

We did a fishing trip out of Waukegan Harbor a few years ago. Although we did not try the Yacht Club, we did greatly enjoy our sandwiches from Dockside Deli right there at the harbor.

Was in Waukegan last night prior to a 7:30pm show at the Genesee Theater.

I had taken the Metra Train to Waukegan to meet Mrs Sweet Willie. The train station is a 2 block walk away from the Marina and a 4 block walk from the Theater.

We decided to try for the Yacht Club https://wyclub.com The signs outside the restaurant and as one makes their way to the restaurant state that the club is only open to public for lunch, this isn't true & the new management that took over the restaurant in July 2015 has yet to correct these signs or put a menu on the website, as well as make it clear on the website that the public is invited for lunch & dinner.

    Free parking at the club.

We ended up having a 1/2 dozen oysters on 1/2 shell & shrimp cocktail. Both were very fresh & shrimp were cooked perfectly.

Menu is limited, very steak/chop heavy. Mrs Willie had a grilled 1lb pork chop and I had the broiled whitefish. Both cooked perfectly. I usually do not order whitefish as it is too mild for me, this was a stronger tasting fish which I very much enjoyed.

Soup served was a light creamed chicken veg, which was terrific, I would have been very happy with an entire bowl of this.

Domestic bottled beers are only $3 per, which we found to be the going rate at a number of the bars in Waukegan. There is a lounge/bar area at the Yacht Club. The club did not have a wine list yet as it is in the works with the new management.

We were pleased overall and would return.

Being down is this area reminded me of a long ago time when my grandparents would take us to Mathon's Restaurant near the Johnson OMC manufacturing plant (RIP both)

we did not see the deli but did see a hot dog stand harborside that was doing some brisk business at 5:30pm.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.
