Pie in the Loop

Does anyone have a good place to suggest for a decent piece of pie, in the Loop area? I'm craving pie today and not sure which place to take a chance on. I am at Madison/Wacker and am willing to walk a good distance, in the area, for pie.

From the "Plethora of Pie" event that was held earlier this fall, there is a place for pie not too far away. I have not been.

I think your best bet is a diner, though I've never had the courage to visit most of the options in the loop. The only ones I can faithfully recommend (without guaranteeing pie, though) are Eleven City Diner and Lou Mitchell's.

Let us know if you go to this one, we didn't make it during PoP. I'm ashamed to say I know no other pie places in the Loop.

I've actually been to Pie before, forgot about that place. It's pretty good, a little pricy and you can't get the pie per slice, but you can buy smaller versions of a bigger pie for a smaller charge. I had the blackberry apple when I was there, and from my memory it was good but nothing to write home about. I think it was mostly crust, I did have the smaller pie version.

and i actually would disagree with what the above person said. you can in fact buy the pie by the slice.

they have set up a little table / coffee shop area in the back of the store for you to enjoy it. they have a barista and everything, they serve Julius Meinl. They started this about a year ago, so maybe that's also when they started selling pie by the slice, not sure...

and as many times as i've been, i always usually just get coffee. i have had their pie once though, but i don't remember much else other than it was really good

Good sweet potatoe and pecan pie (et al.) at Heaven on Seven in the Garland Building not too far from you. Go late morning or after lunch to avoid crowds, and sit at the counter.
