I am interested in Proseco on Wells St. in River North. This spot was featured in several columns as a "best new restaurant" last winter. I walk by frequently and cannot even detect a sign. Can anyone tell me if this place is worth a try. Thanks.

I've enjoyed 2 meals at Prosecco, where the pastas are all homemade, and the prosecco list is the best in the city (surprise, surprise). I haven't been wowed by anything though, and the prices are pretty darn high (high 20's for entrees, iirc), so I wouldn't put Prosecco near the top of my list of restaurant choices.

I have been to Prosecco 3 times. I was there the week it opened as well. Each time I have been there the food improved. I was there as recently as a couple months ago.

While it is on the pricey side, I think it is worth it. I haven't had a bad meal. I have tried the Gnocchi Gorgonzola which was great. The gorgonzola sauce isn't overpowering either. On my second visit, I had the risotto which was cooked perfectly. The last time I was there they had a special that night of duck filled ravioli. It was absolutely delicious. I've also tried the following apps....Risotto crab cakes. It were good, but the portion was on the small side. I've also tried the Tris di Pesci which is tuna 3 different ways. The fish was very fresh and a great dish, if I remember correctly the appetizer was pretty expensive. I think it was around $16 or $17. Don't quote me on that, but that is what I recall.

As mentioned in the previous post, they have a very large selection of prosecco and are very knowledgeable. We planned on ordering a bottle and they let us have a taste before ordering the bottle to make sure we liked it which I thought was nice touch.

The service has always been outstanding. Of the 3 times I have been there, we had the same waitress the last two times. She actually remembered my wife and I and said she thought we looked familiar. I can't remember her name unfortunately, but she was extremely friendly, very knowledgeable of food and drinks and attentive to us all night long.

I would suggest that if anybody has thought about going, they should.

I was watching a rerun of Check Please last night which featured what looked like a fantasic Italian Resturant located at 6966 W North ave. in Oak Park. The name was Sparacino and was run by a brother sister team. Living nearby, I went to check it out today only to find an empty space with a sign on the door saying that the place had relocated to 710 N Wells and was now called Proseco.

Any updates on Prosecco on Wells? Looking for anniversary dinner, am able to get a reservation and I've never been.
