10 years ago we went an amazing Italian Bakery to buy italian "lemon knot" cookies. I cannot recall the name of the bakery, but they were the best I've ever had!

I think it might have been in the north irving park area...... any ideas?

    Thanks!

Well, the bakery most famous for lemon knots back then was probably Judy's Bakery in Evanston. It is no longer open. You used to be able to get the same (or similar, anyway) recipe cookies at Whole Foods in a plastic clamshell.

In Edison Park, on Northwest Highway, there are three places you can buy Italian bakery items. If you are looking for Lemon Knots, try Nona's Cookies at Tony's Deli. From there you can wander next door and down the block to the other two bakeries.

If you only run in at Tony's and buy the cookies at the register, you will miss one of the primo Italian delis. Walk back to the rear of the store and be prepared to spend some wonderful time. The smells, alone, are worth the trip. Terrific subs, including an addictive muffaletta. Many fine prepared foods, both cold and hot. And the red sauce is very good. Be sure to investigate the freezers for take-home. And the people are nice, too.

    Enjoy! Enjoy!
