They're running a promotion, if you go in and say "I voted," you get a free tall coffee.

In Chicago, you get one for each time you voted, presumably.

Although this is nice, and I certainly plan on taking advantage of it six or eight times tomorrow, I would just like to point out what wusses we modern Americans are.

The "I get a gold star even if I fail" generation. Reminds me of a friend who hired a new employee, and after a first week of all-late starts, my friend told the employee she needed to arrive on time. The new employee asked, "Do I get a bonus for coming in on time?" (Maybe you can keep your job. Welcome to the real world.)

But I'm sure her self-esteem is high.

Note: this has been changed to free coffee for anyone who asks today (whether you voted or not), since it turns out to be illegal to reward voters.

I went today to claim the free coffee at Starbucks after I voted this morning (no wait @ 23rd precinct, 1st ward). It was a puny little sample cup. At the risk of seeming like I'm turning my nose up at something free, it just seems like a ploy by Starbucks to get people in the door to buy a "real-sized cup." Not falling for it, I turned around and patronized an independent instead.

Thanks for the heads up! I think I will go down there and ask for five samples and a big cup.

Swim Cafe in my neighborhood is offering a small cup of coffee to anyone who votes. I didn't see the "small," but I bet it's bigger than what Starbucks is offering. Swim is open until 6pm.

The two free cups that I have received so far have both been 12 oz cups. In fact, they asked if I wanted to take one home for my wife.

I brought my own cup, and I suspect I was the first person there to take advantage of the offer, but got my cup filled up (SBX at corner of Milwaukee/North/Damen)

Forget you guys and your calorie-free drinks! The Mhays family went to WASC and all three of us got free fries, (Sparky had an "I voted" sticker from his classroom election.)

    Hi,

Free Starbuck's coffee certainly got a lot of free publicity from this offer yesterday. More voters than usual to took their 'Just Voted' stickers, then announced they were heading over to Starbuck's. Later someone announced they would then go to Dunkin' Donuts for a free donut.

By the time I could have taken advantage of any offer, I just wanted something really good to eat. I went to Spoon Thai for dinner paid at full price with a generous tip. :D
