On November 19th
WAVE restaurant [W Chicago–Lake Shore, 644 N. Lake Shore Drive] will introduce the first in a series of quarterly new cocktail classes, “So You Think You Can Bartend?”
Led by WAVE’s beverage manager Kevin Wonder, each class will focus on a different genre of cocktails and their history, followed by some tutelage from Wonder on how to mix like a pro. Students will then be put to the task of demonstrating what they’ve learned and create their own signature cocktail. The winner will be featured on WAVE’s cocktail menu until the next class.
For the first class, on
November 19th from 6:00-8:00PM, Wonder will educate his students on the fineries of Prohibition-Era cocktails.
Highlights of the first So You Think You Can Bartend cocktail class will include:
• Just like college, drink while you learn about Prohibition-Era cocktails like the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned. Then, put your knowledge to the test!
•
Thrillist Chicago editor Dave Andrews will guest judge deciding which cocktail will make it onto WAVE’s menu.
• Bites like Duck Confit Croquettes, Mini Beef Wellingtons, and Chroizo Pigs in a Blanket will be served up by
Executive Chef Kristine Subido.
• Instead of homework, Wonder will send his students home with a starter kit so they can continue their education on their own. The kit will include a mixing glass, a shaker, a muddler, a jigger and some samples.
• Tickets are $35 and includes three drinks. For tickets call 312.255.4460, or e-mail
