Anyone ever had this stuff? They're in my neighborhood, and I've heard some good things. Are they a chain? What can I expect?

    Thanks!

you live in south shore? in the highlands?

I used to get italian fiesta growing up a lot, since I had a best friend who lived on 68th and euclid. It is, all things considered, pretty good pizza if memory serves. thin crust, cut in triangle slices, with an amount of grease that would create a steady pour when you folded the slice and tilted it downward (not the normal drips). People used to debate whether italian fiesta or reggio's was better, and I always thought the former. it was certainly different from the thin crust edwardo's i was used to in hyde park.

other 71st st. places include the red pagoda, which is ameri-chinese at it's absolute best/worst. this became a necessary evil after the chinese spot on 63rd (can't remember the name) closed up shop, and we (or our parents) didn't feel like driving down to chinatown. can't say for sure, but I remember this place being better than far east kitchen, etc.. in hyde park (saying, albeit, nothing).

my favorite on that strip, however, was and is orbit sub, which I always thought had a better than average gyros, which became magnificent after 4 am. super taco was excellent also.

good harold's east of jeffrey on 71st also.

No, I don't live on the South Shore, but East of Beverly. There's one on South Halsted that I think delivers to me. I think there's other locations too.

Thanks for the response, I plan to check it out.

    *EDIT*

FYI, Fox's and Vito and Nick's are probably my fave pizzas around, but they won't deliver to me. Looking for an alternative.

Apparently this is president-elect Obama's favorite pizza.

Though I lived in Hyde Park for five years I never heard of the place.

I have some moderately fond, though alcohol-blurred, memories of the Italian Fiesta in South Shore (wasn't there one on Stony?) but my last pizza wasn't so good. That pie (from the Kenwood shop about a year ago) was square cut. You remember the grease right though. The sausage seemed almost exactly like ground up smoked bacon and rendered about as much fat.

Tai Sam Yon I presume. I've been trying to figure out what year that place closed. Anyone know?

I heard that recently. I trust he will show better judgment in other matters.

Not that it matters much but the 47th Street Italian Fiesta is in Kenwood, not Hyde Park despite what WGN-TV and Huffington Post say.

I used to like the Italian Fiesta in Dolton when I was younger but I haven't had it in over 20 years. As a kid, we regularly went to the original Aurelio's and Sanfratello's when they were still small neighborhood pizza joints. Something about Italian Fiesta made it a nice change of pace. I remember a very thin crust & like Rene said a fair amount of greasiness. We used to sop up some of the grease with a paper towel if they were especially greasy. I remember really liking their Italian beef & cheese sandwich though, served on garlic bread & oven toasted.
