Joe -- our soon to be 4 yr old -- has demanded "Chinese duck with that plum sauce" for his birthday dinner. We have eaten satisfactory versions of said duck at Spring World (our go to take out) and Sun Wah (too far north for our purposes) but were wondering if anyone has any thoughts on even better options in the greater Chinatown area. We will also be dining our very enthusiastic 2 yr old so the more kid-friendly the better.

GNR Winner Lao Sze Chuan does a very nice version of tea smoked duck...not to mention all of the other delights on their menu.

There are only a handful of places in Chinatown that serve peking duck, and it can be quite expensive. My friends and family used to go to Seven Wives before they closed down for business. You can get a duck bone soup, peking duck, duck meat with stir-fried vegetables, and a steamed whole fish for $19.99. That was a steal when you consider peking duck can cost $30 alone.

Luckily, there's still BBQ King House in the same plaza as Lao Sze Chuan. Unfortunately though, it'll cost you $30 for a similar package (used to be $19.99 also). You'll get a shrimp dish instead of the steamed fish.

You can also try House of Fortune.

The Phoenix can do a Peking Duck without advance notice for around $40. It is great but you only get two dishes.
