On Thursday, they held the groundbreaking ceremony for the long anticipated Whole Foods store which is going to open on the NW corner of Cicero & Peterson. All I can say is that it's a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. Although we've got plenty of ethnic markets in the area, the only supermarket alternatives are Jewel & Dominicks. Having a WF nearby will be great for me! Here's hoping they have a decent seafood department. It's a long drive to Dirk's.

    Z,

I thought you were in KC, how did you attend the ceremony? :)

I live in the same general area, and I agree it will be a nice addition to the neighborhood. Whole Foods will be on the ground floor of a multi story building consisting of, what else, condooooooooooooominiums. (said in the fashion of a pro wrestler or roller girl introduction. Enjoy,

I think you mean Peterson, not Devon.

Right you are. I was so excited, I even got the street wrong. I have corrected my OP.

Anybody know about the timing for the proposed Whole Foods at Roosevelt & Canal? It will be a nice option for me for a noon hour walk from my workplace, probably alternating with the Athens Market.

In case it's useful, here's a link to the Whole Foods new stores list, which is kind of buried within their website:
